Title: | THE SYNTHESIS OF POLY(1,4-PHENYLENE-1,2-ETHANEDIYL) DERIVATIVES - AN ADAPTATION OF THE WESSLING ROUTE | Authors: | Louwet, Frank VANDERZANDE, Dirk GELAN, Jan |
Issue Date: | 1992 | Publisher: | ELSEVIER SCIENCE SA LAUSANNE | Source: | SYNTHETIC METALS, 52(1). p. 125-130 | Abstract: | We have polymerized alpha-chloro-alpha'-alkyl(aryl)sulfinyl- and alpha-chloro-alpha'-alkyl(aryl)sulfonyl-p-xylenes according to a general route adopted from the Wessling bissulfonium salt route. If the polarizer is a sulfinyl group, the polymer, which is soluble in organic solvents, can be converted to trans-PPV. On the other hand, if the polarizer is a sulfonyl group the result is a polymer with a rather high thermal stability. | Notes: | LOUWET, F, LIMBURGS UNIV CENTRUM,DEPT SBG,INST MAT RES,DIV CHEM,B-3590 DIEPENBEEK,BELGIUM. | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/3846 | DOI: | 10.1016/0379-6779(92)90025-E | ISI #: | A1992JX38300011 | Type: | Journal Contribution |
