dc.description.abstract | ABR is een technologie dat ervoor zorgt dat een videostream aangeboden kan worden aan een client in verschillende bitrates door de video op te delen in segmenten. Een ABR algoritme kiest welk segment er op welk moment gekozen moet worden. Er is informatie op de transportlaag dat interessant kan zijn voor deze algoritmes. In deze thesis onderzoeken we of het delen van metrieken over de netwerklagen heen een positieve impact kan hebben op de prestaties van ABR algoritmes. We hebben twee implementaties gemaakt: AverageXL en BBA-XL. AverageXL presteert minder goed dan de niet-cross-layer Average. BBA-XL presteert beter dan de niet-cross-layer BBA in specifieke scenario's waar BBA slecht werkt. BBA en BBA-XL presteren hetzelfde in algemene scenario's. | - |
