Abstract: Our society has changed. Today a child can have an actual relationship with more than two persons. This new reality encourages legislators to rethink traditional legal concepts such as legal parentage. In this presentation, I answer three questions. The first question is how children know they are not related genetically to one or both legal parents ('discovering'). The second question is how they identify their (potential) genetic parent ('exploring'). The third question is how they can 'establish' genetic origins.
