Abstract: An asymmetric object, undergoing dissipative collisions with surrounding particles, acquires a nonzero average velocity. The latter is calculated analytically by an expansion of the Boltzmann equation and the result is compared with Monte Carlo simulations. Copyright (c) EPLA, 2007
