Abstract: Schools have a wealth of data, including test results and student characteristics. The presence of a data coach, providing human support, proves pivotal in steering school teams through data-driven decision-making (DBDM). This review explores the role of data coaches in twenty cases (2005-2021) where schoolteams received support regarding DBDM. Findings reveal diverse profiles and tasks, emphasizing adaptability to contextual demands. Educational implications stress customized professionalization, an adaptive coaching model, and collaborative learning. Informed strategies rooted in DBDM are crucial for optimizing data coaches' impact on student learning and educational enhancement.
