Abstract: In this article, the authors draw up a list of possible success factors regarding the implementation of information systems & information technology in Belgian banks and insurance companies. This list is based on an extensive literature survey combined with the results of a field research. Furthermore, the authors create a framework based on qualitative data analysis to structure this list of factors. Within this framework, they distinguish between four major categories of factors. The first category contains factors that enhance goal congruence. The second category groups factors that are related with the project team. The third category contains factors that influence the acceptance of the project and its results and the factors in the last category can be described as elements of implementation politics.
