Abstract: This study compared antegrade and retrograde headless intramedullary compression screw fixation for fractures of the proximal third of the proximal phalanx. Antegrade fixation showed superior stability, provided more rigid fixation and preserved the smaller distal articular surface of the proximal phalanx.
