Title: | Evaluating egocentric selection techniques in a tabletop virtual environment for urban planning | Authors: | VANDOREN, Peter HAESEN, Mieke RAYMAEKERS, Chris CONINX, Karin CARDINAELS, Maarten |
Issue Date: | 2005 | Source: | Proceedings of the 19th British HCI Group Annual Conference. p. 116-120. | Abstract: | In this paper we present a usability study on object selection in a non-immersive virtual environment for urban planning. The tabletop setup, designed to improve spatial awareness in virtual environments, offers two complementary views on the virtual city and permits a hybrid 2D/3D selection technique. In a formal usability test, we compared this novel object selection technique with the ray cast selection technique. | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/4665 | Category: | C2 | Type: | Proceedings Paper |
