| dc.description.abstract | How can students be trained from a European perspective for careers in teaching and education, particularly in urban education areas? This question lies at the heart of the work programme of a Connected Community established within EUTOPIA, an alliance of European universities, in 2022 to explore teaching and research activities in the field of urban education. This group has designed the BIP Urban Education in Europe, a training course combining online teaching and residential seminars, based on the Erasmus+ “Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)” model. Following an initial edition in Brussels in 2023, this BIP was implemented in 2024 in Gennevilliers, a working-class suburb of Paris where the ÉMA (École, mutations, apprentissages) education research laboratory of CY Cergy Paris University, the host of this second edition, is located. From October to December 2024, this training programme brought together nearly fifty students and staff from eight European universities. It consisted of conducting visual surveys on educational issues in urban contexts, in collaboration with city stakeholders and with the assistance of professional photo graphers. This book presents the programme’s educational approach, the students’ visual productions, and retrospective testimonials from participants. It aims to share enthusiasm for educational exploration that combines international mobility and cooperation, research-based training, collaborative practices, local anchoring, inclusion, and multilingualism. | - |
