| dc.description.abstract | A proportion of stroke survivors use their paretic arm less than might be expected based on their level of impairment. The resulting underuse of the paretic arm has a negative impact on participation in neurorehabilitation and functional independence. However, non-use remains poorly understood. One possibility is that prioritising the non-paretic arm reflects a habit, despite residual functional capacity in the paretic arm. | - |
| dc.description.sponsorship | Funding The study was supported by a grant from the Jon Moulton Trust Charity and the Stroke Association UK. The funders had no competing interest in this work. Acknowledgements We would like to thank Eve Bollend for her assistance with data collection, and we are especially grateful to all the stroke survivors who took part in this research project. | - |
