Abstract: The analysis of a series of aromatic oligomers and an additional model compound by means of NMR and FT-Raman spectroscopy and the comparison of these data with the spectroscopic data of poly(4,5,6,7-tetrafluoroisothianaphthene) (PTFITN) indicate that the enhanced solubility but the larger bandgap should be the consequence of highly twisted aromatic isothianaphthene units.
