Abstract: Dust abatement from hot gases is frequently performed using rigid filters. These filter elements are periodically cleaned by applying a reverse pulse of compressed air. The pulse generating system should yield a maximum jet momentum, while operating at the lowest possible pressure to reduce the consumption of air. In the following article, I Schildermans, J Baeyens and K Smolders present and review extensive literature data and theories.
