Title: | Improving haptic rendering of complex scenes using spatial partitioning | Authors: | RAYMAEKERS, Chris CONINX, Karin |
Issue Date: | 2003 | Source: | Proceedings of Eurohaptics 2003, Dublin, Ireland, 6-9 July 2003. p. 193-205. | Abstract: | Most haptic API's cannot efficiently render complex scenes. This paper presents two techniques that can reduce the time needed to haptically render a complex scene : a technique based on a spatial grid and a technique based on a modification of an octtree. These techniques are both theoretically and experimentally compared with each other and the default algorithm used in e-Touch. These results are discussedin order to draw conclusions on the best technique for a given scene. | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/6914 | Link to publication/dataset: | http://www.eurohaptics.vision.ee.ethz.ch/2003/09.pdf | Category: | C2 | Type: | Proceedings Paper |
