Title: | A comparison of heterogeneity in the acquisition of varicella zoster virus and parvovirus B19 for five different European countries. | Authors: | HENS, Niel GAY, Nigel SHKEDY, Ziv AERTS, Marc EDMUNDS, John |
Issue Date: | 2007 | Publisher: | OXFORD UNIV PRESS | Source: | EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF PUBLIC HEALTH, 17(S2). p. 58-59 | Abstract: | We model the age-dependent force of infection for varicella zoster virus and parvovirus B19 based on a joint model while incorporating individual unobserved heterogeneity. Individual heterogeneity comprises the differences among individuals’ susceptibility to acquire infections, often referred to as `frailties'. We use a shared gamma frailty to describe this heterogeneity, assuming that the frailty distribution is the same for both infections and contrast this using a correlated frailty approach, relaxing upon this assumption. | Keywords: | Heterogeneity; Varicella Zoster Virus; Parvovirus B19; Force of Infection | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/7913 | ISSN: | 1101-1262 | e-ISSN: | 1464-360X | ISI #: | 000251544100149 | Category: | M | Type: | Journal Contribution |
