Abstract: Excerpt from preface: A big part of this thesis will deal with the study of P-doped n-type CVD diamond films, grown at NIMS as well as at IMO. Therefore different photocurrent techniques are applied in order to investigate the electronic structure of the phosphorous atom. Besides n-type doping, hydrogen-related surface conductivity is a topic that has kept the scientific diamond community busy over the last years. Especially the mechanism behind the p-type surface conductivity has given rise to many different models. Also the influence of the hydrogen termination on (surface) states in the band gap is still controversial. In addition to the fundamental interest, surface conductivity also provides possibilities for surface based devices like transistors and biosensors. ...
