http://hdl.handle.net/1942/17912| Title: | On the 80/20 - rule | Authors: | EGGHE, Leo | Issue Date: | 1986 | Publisher: | ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV | Source: | SCIENTOMETRICS, 10 (1-2), p. 55-68 | Abstract: | In a recent paper1 Burrell shows that libraries with lower average borrowings tend to require a larger proportion of their collections to account for 80% of the borrowings, than those with higher average borrowings. In that study, the underlying frequency distribution was a negative binomial. We are dealing with a case when the underlying distribution is of Lotka type. It is also shown that the “80/20-effect” is much stronger in this case. | Notes: | UNIV INSTELLING ANTWERP,B-2610 WILRIJK,BELGIUM. | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/17912 | ISSN: | 0138-9130 | e-ISSN: | 1588-2861 | DOI: | 10.1007/BF02016860 | ISI #: | A1986D266700005 | Category: | A1 | Type: | Journal Contribution |
