Abstract: This paper describes the application of a multiple layer composite indicator DEA model in association with clustering procedure and sensitivity analysis of scores (through bootstrapping techniques) for traffic fatality risk assessment in the set of 27 Brazilian states. The methodology is developed using three risk indicators on road safety (traffic fatalities per vehicle, per traveled kilometer and per inhabitants), which were combined into a composite indicator. Regarding the results, a range of scores intended to manifest estimated variability of the road safety performance for each states is provided separately inside four defined clusters.
