An advantage of a reduced population size is the reduced number of fitness evaluations necessary. In domains where calculation of fitness values is expensive, this results in a huge speedup of the search. Additionally, in the experiments performed, smaller populations also resulted in a faster convergence speed towards an optimal solution. | Notes: | Expertise Ctr Digital Media, B-3590 Diepenbeek, Belgium.Monsieurs, P, Expertise Ctr Digital Media, Wetenschapspk 2, B-3590 Diepenbeek, Belgium. | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/2776 | ISBN: | 978-3-540-00971-9 | ISSN: | 0302-9743 | DOI: | 10.1007/3-540-36599-0_13 | ISI #: | 000184814100013 | Category: | A1 | Type: | Journal Contribution | Validations: | ecoom 2004 |
