Abstract: LB ePoster 28 (3S) 995 journals.sagepub.com/home/msj Multiple Sclerosis Journal 2022; 28: (3S) 984-1017 found with those who were frail. The rate of all-cause mortality was higher in PwMS who were frail without depression (HR 1.34, 95%CI 1.09-1.65), those fit with depression (HR 1.19, 95%CI 1.08-1.32), and those frail with depression (HR 2.02, 95%CI 1.35-3.01). In women, 38% of the mortality outcome was attributable to the joint effect of the two conditions (AP 0.38, 95%CI 0.07-0.68). Conclusions: Depression is associated with increased risk of macrovascular disease and both frailty and depression are associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality. The effect is syn-ergistic in women. Further studies should evaluate whether effectively treating depression and enhanced management of frailty are associated with reduced vascular risk and mortality.
