Title: | Eutectogels: A New Class of Solid Composite Electrolytes for Li/Li-Ion Batteries | Authors: | JOOS, Bjorn VRANKEN, Thomas MARCHAL, Wouter SAFARI, Momo VAN BAEL, Marlies HARDY, An |
Issue Date: | 2018 | Source: | CHEMISTRY OF MATERIALS, 30 (3), p. 655-662 | Abstract: | Here, we introduce deep eutectic solvent (DES)–silica composites as a promising candidate for solid composite electrolytes (SCEs). The proposed DES-based gel electrolytes, further referred to as eutectogels (ETGs), are characterized by high ionic conductivity (1.46 mS cm–1), thermal (up to 130 °C), and electrochemical stability (up to 4.8 V) and are chemically inert to solvents and water. These ETGs can be easily processed and potentially at lower costs compared to ionic-liquid-based composite electrolytes. The good prospects of ETGs for application in Li/Li-ion batteries are demonstrated by stable cycling of Li/ETG/LiFePO4 cells over 100 cycles at C/10. | Notes: | Joos, B (reprint author), Hasselt Univ, UHasselt, Inst Mat Res IMO, Agoralaan, B-3590 Diepenbeek, Belgium. bjorn.joos@uhasselt.be | Keywords: | solid composite electrolytes; hybrid electrolytes; li-ion batteries; ionic liquids | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/25696 | ISSN: | 0897-4756 | e-ISSN: | 1520-5002 | DOI: | 10.1021/acs.chemmater.7b03736 | ISI #: | 000425840500015 | Category: | A1 | Type: | Journal Contribution | Validations: | ecoom 2019 |
